Academic collaborations
The academic expertise of the research training group will be reinforced by an interdisciplinary and international group of guest academics. The scholars will contribute directly to the study programme of the research training group or offer additional teaching units. During their time in Jena, guest academics can be consulted directly and in personal consultations by the PhD students. There is also the opportunity for the PhD students to spend a longer period in the working groups of the international partners (for example, with Jean-Marie Roulin of Saint Étienne and Jean-Nicolas Illouz of Paris 8 Saint-Denis).
The guest academics will expand on the current range of subjects addressed by the programme. This will be done by focusing on two Mercator fellowships, which will enable the group to hone its research profile. The occupant of the chair for modern English literature at Ludwig Maximilian University Munich, Christoph Bode, who is highly renowned in British Romanticism research, will be a guest at Jena for the summer semester 2016 to invigorate the academic discussion at the start of the first phase of the research training group. At the start of the second phase of the research training group, the Anglicist Christoph Reinfandt of the University of Tübingen, whose research on the history of the reception of Romanticism has inspired the research programme, will reinforce the group’s activities in the area of English linguistics.

Seit dem Sommersemester 2016 haben auswärtige Doktorand:innen und Postdoktorand:innen die Möglichkeit wahrgenommen, an Kollegveranstaltungen teilzunehmen und das eigene Projekt in Jena vorzustellen. Die thematische oder methodische Überschneidung des Projekts mit dem Forschungsprofil des Kollegs ist Voraussetzung für eine Teilnahme an dem Programm, dessen Dauer sich zeitlich flexibel am Einzelbedarf orientiert und von der Teilnahme an einzelnen Veranstaltungen bis zu einem Forschungsaufenthalt von vier Wochen reichen kann. Ziel ist ein fachlicher Austausch in zwei Richtungen, der den Mitgliedern des Graduiertenkollegs ebenso wie den Gästen aus dem In- und Ausland zu Gute kommen soll. Bei längeren Aufenthalten steht ein Arbeitsplatz zur Verfügung, die Einführung in die Jenaer Forschungsinfrastruktur wird gewährleistet, Hilfe bei der Unterbringung angeboten. Das Graduiertenkolleg bietet sich als Anlaufpunkt für mit dem Thema Romantik befasste Nachwuchswissenschaftler:innen verschiedener Disziplinen an.
